The Moon and the Stars – The Moon (Detail) Format:Canvas Board colorful trees and ornamentsThis is a dreamy segment from Mucha's beloved series The Moon and the Stars. This close up is of "The Moon", associated with femininity, mysteries, and understated strength. The figure floats in time and space with stars in the background and flowers as a delicate halo within her tresses. The use of the Art Nouveau style is characteristic of Mucha's most notable works with transitional lines, muted color palettes, and symbolically decorative uses.
